NY: 'Report it now': How, when mandated reporters are obligated to make suspected child abuse call
The main page on the New York State Office of Children and Family Services website for Child Protective Services asks a simple question. "Do you suspect abuse or maltreatment?" The answer: "Report it now." As soon as a mandated reporter suspects abuse or maltreatment, a report must be made by phone to the New York Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
